The international WoodBuild Finland 2025 event focused on the core of wood construction
Puuinfo hosted a wood construction seminar in Helsinki on 15–16 May.
The international WoodBuild Finland 2025 event brought together experts in wood construction and architecture from around the world. The two-day seminar, with the theme “Sustainable innovations for a happy life”, provided a comprehensive overview of the latest developments in the field and inspired lively discussion.
The event was held at Katajanokan Laituri, a landmark of modern Finnish architecture, home to Sokos Hotel Pier 4 and Stora Enso’s headquarters. The building was awarded the Wood Award in 2024. Participants also had the opportunity to explore this unique building.
The atmosphere of the event was open and forward-looking. Both Finnish and foreign guests actively networked, exchanging ideas and experiences about the possibilities of wood construction. It was gratifying to see how new collaborations were created and how enthusiastically professionals in the field shared their expertise. The openness of the discussion was remarkable, and many noted that the event was an excellent platform for the generation of new ideas.

The seminar highlighted Finland’s strengths in wood construction, especially the use of digitalization from processes to production, as well as innovative, high-quality wood products. Leading wood construction projects and wood product research from both Finland and abroad were presented, providing a fresh overview of the current state of the industry. Particular attention was paid to Finnish contemporary architecture and design, which are world-class success stories. The event underlined how the infrastructure of Finland’s happiest nation has its roots deep in the forests.
WoodBuild Finland 2025 was divided into two days: the first day focused on seminar presentations, while the second day allowed participants to explore interesting wooden apartment building sites in the Helsinki metropolitan area. The official language of the event was English, which enabled broad international participation and discussion.

Overall, WoodBuild Finland 2025 was a success, providing a valuable platform for industry players to network and be inspired by the future of sustainable construction.
