Wood Day 2022 was a return to normal – ”A significant, outstanding effort from the entire wood sector. Thank you.”

After a three year hiatus, Wood Day was once again held live on November 3, 2022. An audience of a thousand people attended the event either in person at the Messukeskus exhibition centre in Helsinki or online. The cosy atmosphere at Messukeskus made networking easy, and online attendees were also pleased with the event. This year’s sessions had a total of 63 talks in six subject categories.

When visitors were asked for their opinion about the event, a third of respondents turned out to be first-time attendees. When asked whether they had plans to come to the next Wood Day, 99% of respondents said they would probably or definitely return in 2023, with half of respondents being confident they would return. The multifaceted nature of Wood Day is one reason people like it. Alongside the expert seminars, visitors had the opportunity to check out the products and services of 32 companies. Based on the feedback, the event met visitors’ expectations. Requested topics for future sessions included talks on international themes, research projects, and sustainability.

Wood Day 2022 concluded with the award of the Wood Prize. This year, the award went to the ceiling of the entrance hall at the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. This issue includes an overview of this project, which was designed by ALA Architects.

We look forward to welcoming you to the next Wood Day in 2 November 2023!
