The extensive set of materials prepared two years ago as a collaboration of wood industry teachers has been translated into English. There are several thousand PowerPoint pages of material. They cover wood material theory, industrial wood products and wood technology. The material introduces industrial building systems, the principles of architectural planning and planning, building regulations that especially affect wood construction, and construction processes. The largest entity is the structure planning entity, which includes several example calculations to support the teachers’ work.

The English-language teaching material was implemented in the international Wood for Youth project, in which Finnish partners are the Federation of the Finnish Woodworking Industries and Satakunta University of Applied Sciences.

Update on environmental effects

The part of the Finnish-language teaching material that presents the environmental effects of wood construction regarding regulatory development has also been updated. The update was carried out by Aila Janatuinen from the Federation of the Finnish Woodworking Industries.

Teachers have found the material well in the Open Learning Materials Library (aoe.fi), where parts of the 13-volume set have been downloaded tens or hundreds of times. The most interesting part has been the structural design part, which files has been downloaded more than 3,500 times.
