26.8.2026  –  15.12.2027
Novia University of Applied Sciences (online)

The courses offered as Open UAS courses are part of the Master’s degree programme in Structural Engineering. The programme is based on the requirements for the scope of studies in building technology and the design of exceptionally demanding, primarily wooden structures and buildings. It also meets the educational requirements in structural mechanics and building physics needed to ensure sufficient competence for designing exceptionally demanding structures and buildings.

The courses also cover fire design, structural stiffening, and acoustics in wooden structures, as well as the carbon footprint and life cycle assessment of wooden buildings.

These studies are designed for flexible learning and can be completed alongside full-time employment, preferably in an engineering company. The studies are conducted online, with lectures held one afternoon per week (usually Wednesdays from 15:00 to 18:00) from September 2026 to May 2027 and from September to December 2027. In addition, weekly self-study and teamwork are required.

Lectures are scheduled at specific times but are not location-dependent. Students are expected to participate in all online lectures in order to successfully complete the courses.

Students may choose to participate in all 10 courses (30 ECTS credits) or select individual courses.
